Alla Turca offers a unique Turkish experience in the City Centre. Its location makes it very handy for cinema, theatres (it’s very close to the Kings) and public transport, but if you decide to nip in for a quick bite you might decide to stay a bit longer than planned as this is the first restaurant in the UK to feature live traditional Turkish music from 6pm every evening. During the week this takes the form of unusal background music, creating a pleasantly authentic and relaxed atmosphere, but at the weekends there is also the opportunity to take part in traditional Turkish dances, which makes for an entertaining and different night out. The interior is neat and stylish and the menu is good Turkish home cooking with modern and traditional dishes. All the old favourites are in attendance such as humus, babaganus, falafel and tabouleh, but there are some new classics to look out for too, like a salad of watermelon, feta and mint served with lamb cutlets and a poached egg starter with garlic scented yogurt and spiced pepper sauce. And if you’re part of a crowd Alla Turca offers private dining for up to 40 people, or the main restaurant can be booked for up to 60 people.
